Many ants are attracted to the dishwasher; usually, ants that have an infestation in your kitchen. The ants will come up from the floor, and you may find them crawling around inside your dishwasher. This is a problem because ants can cause damage to your dishes, as they leave behind their saliva and waste.

They also carry bacteria with them, which could lead to food poisoning or other illnesses. In this blog post, we’ll discuss how you can get rid of ants in dishwashers once and for all!

1. Search for Cracks & Openings

If you find any cracks, use a sealant to plug them up and prevent the ants from getting in. If there are openings where pipes connect to the dishwasher or underneath it, cover this with masking tape so they can’t get through.

You don’t want holes that big because then water could potentially escape the dishwasher and cause a leak.

2. Cleaning of a Dishwasher

Clean it with soapy water if you want to keep ants and other insects out of your dishwasher. This will remove any leftover food particles that might attract bugs in the future. To make sure all areas are cleaned thoroughly, follow this process:

  1. Shut off power at the fuse box or circuit breaker panel before cleaning inside the dishwashing door
  2. Empty contents from the bottom basket into the sink
  3. Wipe down outside exterior surface including top edge where seal connects countertop & below buttons/controls located on front-panel; also wipe rubber gasket around the perimeter of drawer opening (do not use harsh abrasives) if needed, brush mildew stains lightly without removing paint finish over time build-up can create a hiding place for spiders or roaches – especially near drain holes.
  4. Wipe inside the dishwasher door and on rubber seal that attaches to countertop; remove any stubborn food residue with a nylon scrub pad or pad made for stainless steel (do not use abrasives)
  5. Rinse with clean water to remove all cleanser residue and food particles from the dishwasher interior and exterior surfaces
  6. Wipe down inside of the door to remove any remaining cleaner solution if needed, wipe rubber seal that attaches the dishwasher door to countertop
  7. Replace items in the bottom rack of the dishwasher and run a normal wash cycle with hot water & dry heating element to remove any remaining moisture from the unit
  8. Turn on power at the fuse box or circuit breaker panel.

After you’ve emptied the dishwasher, fill up an empty spray bottle with soapy water and go to town spraying down all surfaces in the kitchen. The goal is to remove any food particles that might attract ants after being left behind on dishes or other cooking equipment used within your sink area.

Please don’t forget about outside areas! Spray around doors/windows as well as along baseboards where they like to congregate too. You can get a good soap from amazon

  1. Leave open containers of white vinegar near your kitchen sink for two days – this will help keep ants away from your dishes when you wash them by hand
